Development Roadmap

This is my vision for Jeffrey Takes to the Air development over the coming months.

I am committed to providing an updated version every 3 weeks.

Here are the major features planned:

  • Multiplane mode - Fly 2, 3 or 4 planes against a similar number of enemies.

  • Five new missions (in addition to Quick Battle).

  • Three new planes to fly, each with a unique design, stats and performance.

  • Challenge Mode - Become an Ace by shooting down 5 enemy AI planes, including a Boss plane. Players choose upgrades between battles.

  • Gauntlet Mode - A roguelike series of battles where you keep playing until you are finally shot down. How far can you get? Between battles choose an upgrade or repair your plane.

  • Combat defence cards - A Jink card will allow you to avoid damage (within limits).

  • Two new maps with new terrain types.

  • New upgrade cards (13 planned).

  • Campaign - An immersive and narrative series of missions which can be played at any difficulty level.

  • Steam Leaderboard.

  • Achievements including:

    • Military rank from Airman to Marshal of the Air (17 levels).

    • Statistics on games played, planes shot down, etc.

    • Badges e.g., First Kill, Ace (5 kills). Initially, 15 badges will be available, with more planned.

    • Steam Achievements (10 initially).

Planned release In July 2026. Following release, two lots of downloadable content (DLC) are planned, depending on the uptake of the original game. These are:

  • DLC #1 - Online Multiplayer on Steam.

  • DLC #2 - New Faction to play against (Polar Bears) with Campaign.
